2011 Harley-Davidson XR1200X announced
Harley-Davidson is bringing an upgraded
version of the XR1200 to the United States as a 2011 model.
Like the XR1200 upon which it is based, the 2011 Harley-Davidson
XR1200X was previously released in other markets as a 2010 model. The
XR1200X was even being included in the Motor Company’s debut
product lineup in India in January.
The XR1200X receives upgraded fully-adjustable Show front and rear
suspension. The Show Big Piston Front fork is said to be lighter than
regular cartridge-type forks because it eliminates many internal
components. According to Harley-Davidson, the BPF’s large-diameter
internal piston allows a reduction in damping pressure. Rebound and
compression damping can be tweaked with adjuster screws placed on top of
the fork bolts while spring pre-load can be adjusted with a M5 hex
screw at the axle houlders.
The rear Showa shocks use 36mm pistons with piggy-back nitrogen
charged reservoirs. Compression damping, rebound and pre-load are all
adjustable.
Front brakes have been upgraded to Nissin dual brakes with 292mm
full-floating rotors and four-piston calipers.
Aesthetically, the XR1200X has a blacked-out powertrain and exhaust
with orange pinstriping on the rims of the otherwise black wheels. The
wheels are wrapped in Dunlop Qualifer D209 tires designed specifically
for the XR models.
The XR1200X is powered by a 1200cc XL Evolution V-Twin engine and
claims 90hp at 7,000 rpm and74 ft-lb. at 3,700 rpm.
The XR1200X will be available in Black Denim or White Hot Denim.
Harley-Davidson is pricing it at $11,799, a $1,000 premium on the
XR1200. Check back soon for a review.
